Free course “FakeNews&Elders”: Elderly people in times of fake news and information overload”
We would like to invite you to participate in the free course “Fake News & Elders: Elderly people in times of fake news and information overload” organised by the FRAME Foundation and the City Activity Factory in Lodz as part of the international project FakeNews&Elders.

As a result of digitalisation, access to high-speed internet and the popularisation of social media, the world around us is constantly changing. Social media are becoming increasingly important – anyone can access them and create content. They are democratic, but at the same time they are a place of disinformation and mystification. Fake news spreads freely and quickly and, in addition, there are controlled campaigns on the internet – trolls or bots spread false information, manipulating the audience. In the post-truth era, anyone can ‘sell’ pseudo-truths, pretending they are facts and research findings. Fake news is a threat to society, it can change people’s perceptions (Balmas 2014, Holton and Lewis 2011), affect trust (Baumpatner and Morris 2006, Tsfati et al. 2009), shape the perceptions of others (Lee 2014, Moy et al. 2006) and influence opinions on serious news (Landreville et al. 2010).
During interactive activities led by trainers, participants will improve their skills and gain new knowledge about fake news and how to deal with it in everyday life.

9:15 – 9:45 Information about the FakeNews&Elders project
9: 45 – 12:45 How to deal with fake news in practice in today’s reality?
- What is fake news and how to identify them?
- Presentation of the FakeNews&Elders learning platform
- Practical exercises on the platform.
12:45 – 13:00 Coffee break
13:00 – 13:45 Joint discussion and exchange of experiences
13:45 – 14:00 Course summary and presentation of certificates.
Registration can be done until 31 August 2023 by filling in the registration form.
The number of places is limited, the order of registration is decisive.
