Training week within the DEAP project in Brno

💃 We’ve just finished an intense and emotional week in Brno, where, as part of the DEAP project, we developed our skills in working with young people with visual impairments through dance and artistic activities. Here’s what the last four days of the training looked like:

🎶 Day 3 – Under the guidance of Alena Skotáková from the Czech ensemble Pelican, we began the practical portion. We learned how to use rhythm, voice, space, and touch to make dance accessible, safe, and meaningful for people with visual impairments. We worked in pairs and groups, and together created short choreographies.

🎭 Day 4 – The workshops took place at the fully accessible BARKA Theatre, where Tereza Lepold from the Orbita dance collective led a workshop on experiencing movement. We worked with the body, senses, and space to understand that inclusivity isn’t about conformity—it’s about co-creation.

🌬️ Day 5 – We participated in dance and therapeutic workshops focused on authentic movement, breath, touch, and trust. For us, dance became a tool for building relationships, awareness, and closeness—without words.

🧡 time to summarize, exchange ideas for local activities, and evaluate the training. We were filled with gratitude, inspiration, and… sadness that we had to say goodbye.

We thank our partners from the Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, and Cyprus for this wonderful time! We also thank our participants from the Łódź School for the Visually Impaired and Blind and the K. K. Baczyński Secondary School in Radomsko for their openness, energy, and commitment. The DEAP project lives on—in us and with us! 🌍💫
