SEED & SKILLS – Regenerative Tourism Case Studies
How can tourism not only cause less harm, but actually help the places we visit?
The SEEDS & SKILLS project has produced one of our key outcomes: the Regenerative Tourism Case Studies! 
Regenerative tourism goes a step further than sustainable development. Its aim is not merely to limit the negative impact of tourism, but to actively support ecosystems, local communities, heritage and the economy, so that the places we visit can thrive and regain their balance thanks to tourism. 
In this publication, we have examined how this approach works in practice in Poland, Spain, Austria, Italy and Greece. The project partners analysed national and regional strategies and compiled specific examples of initiatives demonstrating that tourism can become a tool for positive change.
Among the Polish examples were, amongst others:
the ‘Żywa Rzeka’ (Living River) project in Poznań, combining education, culture and community engagement around the Cybina river valley,
‘’Cichy Memoriał’ (Silent Memorial), in which art helps to restore the memory of local heritage and strengthen residents’ connection with the history of small towns,
initiatives by Polish towns and cities to develop a more responsible and regenerative approach to managing tourist destinations.
But this is only part of the European map of good practices! The analysis highlights various ways of combining tourism with nature conservation, the local economy, cultural heritage, education and the active participation of residents
Importantly, this publication is not merely a collection of inspiring examples 
Its findings will form the basis for SEEDS & SKILLS’ future activities – they will help to identify the competencies, knowledge and skills required by those working in the tourism sector to effectively support the transition from sustainable to regenerative tourism.
Because the future of tourism may mean more than simply ‘leaving a place as we found it’.
It may mean leaving it in a better state.
